Now you are in the search for the make up artist with magic hands who will help you become the version of yourself you wish you could be. But where to start? Here are some pointers to help you find the right makeup artist for you:
What is the type of bridal look you want? Natural? Glam? Goth?
What is your budget?
Would you like a student or an artist with more experience?
Do you want to the artist to travel to you or are you willing to travel to them?
You have typed into Google “bridal Make up artist” or “makeup artist near me” and hundreds of names pop up…now what?
Start from the top and work your way down the list. As you are looking at each site, be sure to look for these important factors:
Does their portfolio match the style of make up I am looking for? No? Move on!
Are they licensed? Look at their bio!
How many years of experience do they have working as a make up artist?
What type of tools or products do they have in their kit? Revlon? Move on! Airbrush? Yes please!
Does the package include false lashes?
Do their prices match your budget? $50? $150? $300? $500? Be sure to look at the average price of bridal make up for your area. I am from Portland, Oregon USA and the average price for make up is $100-$800. I charge $395.
Notice how I mentioned the prices last? Most brides will pick a make up artist based on their prices, not because of their talent/experience. A make up artist who will only charge you $50 will not have the experience/ talent compared to an artist who charges $300. You cannot buy a Chanel purse for only $100. If you want quality, it will come with a quality price tag.
After you have found an artist or two, contact them! Email them and list these specific details:
Wedding date
Wedding location
Services requested for bride and bridal party
First look start time or Ceremony start time.
Your email or phone number where they can reach you.
